What is the Alaska Digital Academy?

The Alaska Digital Academy provides an online enrollment portal to high quality interactive courses for middle and high school students. These courses are taught by highly qualified teachers who are proficient in distance technology and who understand alternative forms of education.

Who can take Alaska Digital Academy Courses?

Any student in the State of Alaska qualifies. Currently, credit for any high school course is contingent on an agreement with AkDA and the student's regular school.

How do I enroll in a class?

Students wishing to enroll in a class with the Alaska Digital Academy should contact their school's counselor or email support@alaskadigitalacademy.org. Each district has a designated "registrar" who has access to the online enrollment form.

Who teaches the online courses?

Highly qualified content area teachers from the Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District are the teachers of record for each course. There will be designated on-site mentors to help students with immediate needs.

How do I contact my teacher?

Each AKDA teacher can be reached through regular email or through the communication system in each curriculum package.

What are Flex Courses?

Flex courses have rolling enrollment, which means that students can enroll at anytime.

What are Cohort courses?

Cohort courses have set start and end dates. They are offered through the Canvas Learning Management System.

When do courses start?

Does the AkDA site require a preferred browser?

While we recommend Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge, you will find that you can use almost any modern browser with the exception of Apple's Safari browser. We've found that Safari will often cache logins for others users on your machine, creating problems with authentication. Savvy Safari users can clear the cache each and every time a different user signs in to the Academy if they don't mind the extra work.

What if I am unable to login?

If you don't remember your password, please click the "I forgot my password" link in the login page and an email will be sent to you with instructions for resetting your password. If you have forgotten your username, you may, alternately, use the email address with which you signed up. If that does not work, please contact us for assistance.
